How to use Gelatos for dry and wet techniques
Dry technique project
Blending on a canvas, blending with a stencil, reducing with a baby wipe
and stamping with corrugated cardboard
-
Step 1 and 2: Stick small pieces of masking tape to the lower third of the canvas board. Apply Cotton Candy, Blueberry and Spearmint colour Gelatos to the masking tape pieces and the background.
-
Step 3 and 4: Apply Lemon, Mango and Red Cherry to the upper third of the canvas board. Blend the colours with a finger.
-
Step 5: Apply masking stencil. Reduce the colours in the stencil holes using a cleaning cloth until you are left with a light hue. Carefully remove the stencil.
-
Step 6 and 7: Cut out a suitable strip of decorative paper, apply glue to the back with a brush and stick it on. Cut out a circle stencil with various sizes of circle from the cardboard. Place the circle stencil onto the board and draw on circles with the Mango Gelato.
-
Step 8: Blend the colour you just applied inside the circle stencil with a finger.
-
Step 9: Cut off a small strip of the corrugated cardboard and apply Cotton Candy to the raised parts.
-
Step 10: Spray the corrugated cardboard strip with water.
-
Step 11: Place the corrugated cardboard strip onto the canvas board and press down firmly. Remove the strip.
-
Step 12: Complete the collage with Cotton Candy dots above the decorative paper.
Wet technique project
Blending and dripping on watercolour paper, blending on structured paper
-
Step 1: Apply Cotton Candy, Spearmint, Grape, Lime and Lavender Gelatos.
-
Step 2: Blend the colours together with a finger.
-
Step 3: Spray the coloured area with plenty of water and lightly mix the colours again with a finger.
-
Step 4: Place the drawing card on a cloth or separate piece of paper. Allow the colour to run downwards. If you like, spray the coloured area with more water to create a more pronounced effect. Let the colours dry before further work. You can use the works you create in this way for many things, such as greeting cards, bookmarks or collages.
-
Step 5: Stamp the dripped area with any kind of font stencil using a dark colour.
-
Step 6: Apply Bubble Gum, Lavender and Grape to an area of the embossed drawing card. Blend the coloured area with a finger.
-
Step 7: Cut petals out with the scissors.
-
Step 8: Apply double-sided glue dots to the petals and stick them on.
-
Step 9: Dot some Grape colour into the centre of the flowers, then place Cotton Candy dots around the flowers to create interest.
